SDO Canlaon runners aim for more Palaro entries

The Athletics team of SDO Canlaon asserted their dominance at the CVIRAA Meet 2024 held at the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, and set their sights on the prestigious Palarong Pambansa competition.

The athletics team of the SDO Canlaon once again gave pride and honor to the Division as they continue to bag more medals and dominate in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet 2024.

Shouts and cheers filled the track and field venue in the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu in Abellana, Mandaue City Cebu, especially the delegation and the supporters of the athletics team of SDO Canlaon as two of their members won a Gold and a Bronze medal.

Even under the intense heat of the sun, Lara Abegail Carcedo of the athletics team persevered and gave her 100% without letting the fact that she is competing against 39 other participants affect her and secure the bronze medal in the 1500 meter dash event, Secondary girls category.

Right after her race, she is greeted by a warm hug from her parents who travelled from Canlaon City just to support her. She said that she feels very proud of her self and very happy because her parents are beside her to celebrate this milestone. Carcedo previously won a bronze medal for 3000 meter dash bagging 2 bronze medals for the Division.

Another victor is Queen Tiffa A. Ledesma, who got a Gold medal for the 1500 meter dash, Elementary girls category, “Nakulbaan kay akoang kontra kay Spectrum, ang Spectrum man gud kay giila nga pinakakusgan. Na shock ra ko kay naapsan nako siya sa last 400 meters.” Hard training and always following instructions from her coaches, plus the mindset to always finish first even if it’s exhausting is Ledesma’s key for clenching the gold medal.

The athletics team already won 2 bronze, and 2 gold a total of 4 medals and still doing there best and hopeful that they will get more medals and qualify in the Palarong Pambansa 2024 to give more pride and honor to SDO Canlaon City.
